Bruce began ministry with us in May, 2009. He served Transformation Ministries as Church Resource Minister for Arizona churches from May 1999 to April 2009. Prior to that he pastored First Baptist Church of Phoenix from 1993-1999, and pastored a church in Massachusetts (1984-1993) and Connecticut (1977-1984). He was ordained in 1977. He is married to Cristiane C. Schipul (MRE from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, 1976) and is the father of three adult children – Allison, Joanna and Nathan.
Peter Kyhn, Associate Pastor: Worship, Music, and Discipleship
Peter joined the Palm West staff in March 2011. He has served congregations as Worship Pastor in Arizona, Colorado, California, and Washington state. He earned a Master of Divinity degree from Western Seminary, Portland, OR, a Bachelor of Arts in Music from CSU-East Bay and also had advanced studies in Worship, Private Voice, and master classes in Choral Conducting. Peter’s wife, Christine (married in 1977), has taught music in public shools. She is currently the Chair of the vocal music department at Rosie’s House Music Academy in Phoenix. Christine is also a professional accompanist on piano and organ and enjoys composing and arranging music. The Kyhn’s have three adult children and three beautiful granddaughters and one active grandson.
Larry joined the Palm West Staff 2 May 2016. Larry (Connie) has served in church ministry for 46 years. He attended Mid-America Christian University (known as Gulf Coast Bible College at the time), and attended Anderson Theological Seminary while pastoring in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He started his ministry as an Associate Pastor in charge of Worship and Youth Ministry in Hickman, Kentucky. After that he served as Senior Pastor and various staff leadership roles in churches in Louisiana, Indiana and Arizona. In 1985 he was ordained in the state of Arizona. He has worked with seniors in particular for the past 28 years. Connie has been a faithful partner in ministry with a special gift for playing the piano. Pastor Larry and his wife Connie are delighted to be here and look forward to acquainting with all the members of our church family.
Dr. David Gallagher, Pastor Emeritus
David Gallagher (Mary Ann) served as pastor from October 1997 until February, 2008. He was instrumental in increasing church growth, and to lead in the completion of our Worship Center. He returned in 2013 to serve three years as our Associate Pastor of Pastor Care, retiring in April, 2016.
Dr. William Kearns, Pastor Emeritus
Bill (and Janice) served as our founding pastor by forming a new church planting committee at Bellevue Heights Church of Sun City, AZ. He led our first services in 1993, broke ground and built the first building (Hoover Hall) and led us from January 1993 – December 1996
Cindy has been a participant in Griefshare for the past few years, has a great heart for serving the Lord and encouraging people experiencing grief.
Marilyn Urbany, Organist
Marilyn began her ministry with us on March 1, 2007. She is a graduate of St. Olaf College with a B.A. and Duquesne University with a M.S. She was a teacher in the Bethel Park, PA, school district for 30 years and an Executive Secretary at Thyssen-Krupp-Robins engineering company in Pittsburgh, PA, and Denver, CO, for nine years. She has been a church musician as organist or organist/choirmaster for 57 years. Marilyn loves PWCC and awaits each Sunday morning’s worship with great anticipation. Marilyn’s desire is “May all my music reflect Soli Deo Gloria.”
Jan Orrick Kliever, Pianist
Jan Orrick Kliever began her ministry at Palm West on August 26, 2007. Jan is married to Rev. Ken Kliever, retired Associate Pastor at Palm West. Jan received her B.A. in classical education with a secondary in piano performance from University of Northern Colorado, then went on to Bob Jones University where she earned a specialized diploma in evangelistic (sacred) piano. Jan has taught piano for 50 years and is currently teaching 22 students. Jan has a sweet servant’s spirit and recognized in her early years that God has blessed her with a special gift. Jan accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior when she was 11 years old and states, “I have always felt the Lord gave me the talent, then asked me to give it back to Him as a ministry.”
Jan Turns, Keyboardist
Jan Turns is a charter member of PWCC. She is married to Dr. Edward Turns, retired American Baptist pastor. She has been active in the music program of PWCC for many years and is currently keyboardist, a substitute on the organ and piano and a member of the choir.
